In vitro fertilization is actually a very basic concept which is complex to actually do successfully, yet the Almighty Lord of All has allowed us to discover how to do this, even though man in his sin would turn in vitro fertilization into something which at times intentionally destroys image bearers of The Lord of All.

In vitro fertilization is a way to achieve pregnancy by which often many eggs from a woman are extracted in a procedure (which will run the risk of damaging the egg in the process – and as a result potentially damage the human conceived in the egg). These eggs are then stored in an environment they will survive. A mans sperm is then also collected and then in a laboratory however many eggs are placed in some way together with the sperm creating in at least some cases humans (the Bible points to these being humans as do studies. Some refer to as fertilized eggs or embryos, but it is true they are humans in their most infant physical state). Then these can be placed back in the mothers (or any capable woman’s womb) where in some cases they will attach to the mothers womb and begin to grow into a more developed human being (Image bearer of GOD). However the success rate of this is reportedly not high – and as a result man’s solution (which I will show you was not a good solution) was to extract and try and fertilize many eggs to attempt to achieve pregnancy with – but this led to a huge problem – if pregnancy is achieved or a couple breaks up, and there are “unused humans” what is done with them? Here, like abortion, it was left up to the parents to decide whether to preserve the human life through paying the yearly fee to have them cryogenically frozen where they truly are on life support where if the temperature increases for whatever reason or if their parents don’t keep up on payments to keep them cryopreserved they are at risk of perishing  (some have been born after being cryogenically frozen for 30 years… it is unclear how long one of these precious humans could survive cryogenically frozen), OR they could donate them to a form of research which would destroy any life present whether people realize it or not, OR perhaps in some cases they are discarded altogether, AND now a new development is rescue operations have now arisen whereby some of these can be adopted by a woman or couple through the process of the (in at least some cases human) being placed in their womb through a medical operation.

REPORTEDLY THERE ARE NOW MILLIONS OF THESE (in many cases humans) CRYOGENICALLY FROZEN AND IT IS LIKELY MANY ARE HUMANS AND STILL ALIVE ON EARTH… waiting… waiting to be given the chance at life on Earth… And therein lies the huge issue. This is an issue I find believers who are nearing the end of their life on earth are not even aware of that is happening. And this presents some clear cut solutions in addition to sharing the critically most important thing – the gospel. We must as we are able –

1. We must must make people aware (because it isn’t obvious without knowing the word of God) that these frozen embryos, and all embryos created naturally in the womb or outside the womb are actually precious image bearers that are alive and growing…human beings in the smallest form – the least capable of self defense. Bible verses on how we can know this shared below.

2. Make people aware of the tragic problem present in IVF, and the general risk that any child conceived by it runs the risk of perhaps being damaged in some way in the process of egg extraction, and human being implantation back into the womb.

3. Work in some way whether verbally or actually being able to engage in the rescue of frozen infants through a process called “embryo adoption”. Encouraging believers who are called by God to have children that adopting a cryogenically frozen infant is a way to be the Good Samaritan to them – in addition to adopting children who are already born and desperately need a loving family, whether you are or are unable to have children of your own. Doing this is objectively sacrificial love. People desire children of our own – our culture views adoption as making a sacrifice. I’d venture to say loving adoption is actually a greater love than to love your own biological child.  

Rather than doing in vitro fertilization, why not adopt an already living child who doesn’t have parents for whatever reason, but needs parents who will most importantly teach them about salvation through Jesus Christ, love them, and take care of them.
